Validates a caller-supplied write uniqueKey: 1 to 128 characters of A-Za-z0-9._:-, the
shape the apply-results route accepts, so the write's outcome can always be read back with
confirm(). A key is one attempt's identity: reuse it only to retry that same attempt.
